February is an amazing month. It comes and goes so quickly. It’s a whirlwind month from project based learning units to standardized test prep. It seems that the students have finally reached the point of comfort that they are kickin' fences. Pushing the limits to see just how much can they get away with before you truly LOSE IT!
Is this sounding familiar?
Oh good! I am so grateful there is a community of educators who just “GET IT”.
Yay for the power of positivity and unity! Educators unite!
We can all admit that sometimes our students drive us nuts. It doesn’t mean we don’t love them, because we
do!
BUT sometimes, they are...(insert shaking head in silence here...)
On top of dealing with these humans each and every day comes a pile of paperwork! But let’s be real; at the end of the day, you will have at the very least a thousand things you feel you have to get done before tomorrow. But here’s the secret...
Your work will always be waiting for you.
It’s true!
But, teaching is more than grading papers, focusing on behavioral problems, and contacting parents; it’s about enjoying your students completely.
And here’s an important question..
Are you enjoying your students for the uniqueness?
Are you appreciating them as individuals?
Are you celebrating their strengths?
Focus on the positives your students bring to the classroom and do not let the negative situations or people bring you down.
I get it. It’s hard! This is no small feat...
We are in the thick of it and the end of the year is but a distant thought. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the negative aspects of our occupation. But now is the time we truly need to practice what we preach. Embrace your own Growth Mindset!
You are strong.
You are determined.
You make a difference.
Shine On!
